Multiple manufacturers use the CRT engine code, but in this category, you’ll find used Audi CRT engines. The CRT stands for Common Rail Turbocharged and denotes the precise technological solution used in these engines.
These are most often 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder diesels (3.0 TDI). The common rail technology helps the CRT achieve good fuel economy figures and minimise emissions, which is required by the Euro emission standards.
These engines could develop anywhere between 160 and 200 kW of power and up to 500 Nm of torque. They are also often tuned to extract that extra performance. Thanks to VGT turbos, you can expect decent power delivery throughout the rev range. You can find these motors in Audi A7, A6 and Q7 cars.
CRT Audi engines are considered reliable but can have issues with DPF filters and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems. Used CRT engines are almost always in high demand due to the large number of cars still using them.
