Renault and Nissan collaborated on this particular engine and created what is now known as the M9R diesel. It’s a 2.0-litre inline-four with a single turbocharger. The goal of the production was to make a motor that could be fitted to a wide range of the more popular models within the catalogue of the two brands. You can find the M9R diesel engine in cars like Nissan Qashqai, and Nissan X-Trail. It was oriented towards mid-sized and larger Renault or Nissan vehicles.
It’s a DOHC engine featuring common-rail direct injection, a variable geometry turbo, and 16 valves. The M9R could produce 110 kW of power and 320 to 380 Nm of torque, making it suitable for various applications.
Overall, this motor is considered reliable; however, some of its weak spots include the clogging of the DPF filter, the turbo, and the EGR valve.
